Review Detail
2012 Shaw and Smith M3 Chardonnay
Wine Rating
96
A light yellow in colour, the nose is wonderfully perfumed with stone-fruits, nougat and gun-flint aromas that continue to evolve in the glass.
The palate is imminently soft on entry but has tremendous power of nectarine, peach and fig that complement each other and grow in stature across the palate.
The wine has great length and drive thanks to a precise line of mineral acidity that underwrites considerable cellaring potential.
The wine finishes with peach skins, citrus and creamy yet restrained oak inputs.
It will be exciting to see where this goes after 5 – 8 years of further development.
