2012 Bass River Estate Chardonnay

Wine Rating

94
The wine is a light yellow in colour, the nose slowly unfurls in the glass, giving layers of complexity that start with peach skins and melon, and move towards buttery, smokey stone fruits.

The palate is in a great place, and given the wines relative youth it will continue to get better over the medium term.

On entry vibrant nectarine and lemon pith provide a zesty contrast to one another, the wine has spicy oak influences on the mid palate, adding a savoury aspect that is complemented by tightly bound peach on the finish with a powdery mineral acidity that cuts through the fruit and gives superb length.

An excellent wine that is bound for the cellar.
