Review Detail
2008 Pipers Brook Estate Chardonnay
Wine Rating
92
In my experience Pipers Brook produce Chardonnays with excellent structure, finesse and longevity, and i think the 2008 release exhibits all these characters, the wine is a slightly developed yellow, with the nose having complex brioche characters against a backdrop of citrus.
The palate is very primary with lemon blossom, citrus fruits and sherbet like acidity giving a mineral edge that is given weight on the mid to back palate by some stone fruit characters.
The length is considerable and gives just enough complex secondary characters to provide interest for now, and underwrite a considerable future in the cellar.
