2011 Shadowfax Chardonnay
Wine Rating

92
Matt Harrop crafts some of Victoria’s best Chardonnay’s, with the Shadowfax white label produced from both Geelong and Macedon fruit. Shadowfax Chardonnay consistently shows complexity but not at the cost of structure, the 2011 is no different.

The wine is a light to medium yellow in colour, plenty of barrel ferment and lees characters on the nose that are coupled with white peach and nectarine. The wine is medium bodied with crystalline acidity throughout, grapefruit and citrus characters are well contrasted by richer nougat and vanillin oak to finish.

This wine will reward cellaring over the shorter term.
