2011 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Chardonnay
Wine Rating

92
I was really looking forward to this release from Yabby Lake, with the austere and mineral nature of 2011 Chardonnay’s something that i have enjoyed overr the last 12 - 18 months.

The nose didn’t disappoint, it has precise citrus and stone fruits with green apple, gun flint and just enough cashew richness to make it complete and enticing.

The palate was lean as expected with plenty of mineral acidity however there wasn’t enough fruit at this stage of it’s evolution to keep the wines more angular components at bay, it is still a wonderfully textural drink and the nose is something to behold, it will be interesting to see if time puts more meat on the bones.
