Chardonnay May 24, 2014
2011 Yering Station Estate Chardonnay
Wine Rating

93
Yering Station is one of the most consistent producers of Chardonnay in the Yarra Valley, imminently drinkable on release but having the ability to age gracefully and unfurl beguiling complexity with time.

The 2011 release is one for the longer term, it is a lightly golden yellow with a nose that shows new oak inputs but doesn’t mask the nectarine and ripe white peach characters.

The palate has a sheath of vanillin softness that will continue to integrate over time, but in it’s youth provides a plush backdrop against which rounded peach and precise apple tinged acidity bounce off one another. The finish gives toasted almond richness and has great length of white stone fruits.

This is a wine that will reward cellaring.
