Review Detail
2013 Shaw & Smith M3 Chardonnay
Wine Rating
94
A straw yellow in colour with an attractive nose of nectarine, gun flint and spicy oak inputs.
Initially the wine is lean and mineral with a citrus inspired edge against which nervy stone fruits add depth, as the wine unfolds there is plenty of wood spice to support the taut and precise acidity that is the hallmark of the mid to back palate. The finish shows flashes of richness with fuller lees characters that are well bounded by crunchy lemon pith. The finish lingers with some phenolic grip to add even more texture and depth.
This is a Chardonnay that will greatly reward time in the cellar. Another excellent release.
