2005 Domaine Fontaine Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cu 'La Grande Montagne
Wine Rating
94
This is a very good wine from arguably the premier Chardonnay region in the world Chassagne-Montrachet. The wine is a mature golden yellow in colour with a nose of gun flint, mineral peach and quality french oak.
The wine is medium bodied with peach skins and fuller nectarine fruit, there is effortless balance and poise due to the structured lemon pith acidity at it’s core. The finish has wood spice, pristine stone fruits, and complex almond meal characters.
Drinking well now, but will continue to improve over the next few years before reaching an extended plateau.
