Tasmania’s reputation for Chardonnay and Sparkling wine continues to rise, with the wines having a propensity for significant cellaring, taking what are mineral and lean expressions on release and turning them into structured, complex and exhilarating wines. The 2007 Heemskerk is certainly in this category.

The wine has a lightly golden hue, the nose gives gun flint, nectarine and background nougat. It is structurally compelling with crunchy, crystalline acidity and textural grip on the mid to back palate. The wine finishes with mealy complexity and sour edged nectarine. Drinking well now, and will continue to benefit time in the cellar.
