Chardonnay October 09, 2014
2012 Shadowfax Chardonnay
Wine Rating

95
I think it’s pretty hard to find a Shadowfax Chardonnay that doesn’t impress, with the 2012 continuing a string of excellent wines produced by the winery.

This wine is sourced from Geelong and shows signs of it’s upbringing with barrel ferment and wild yeast giving texture, character and length.

The wine is a light yellow in the glass, tightly bound stonefruit with wood spice, flint and background nougat round out the complex nose.

The wine shows excellent balance, a citrus core frames nectarine and savoury peach; wood spice gives complexity on the mid to back palate. The finish has a generous mouthfeel that is pulled back into line by grapefruit like acidity. This wine will continue to grow in stature over time.
