Review Detail
2012 Shadowfax Black Label Macedon Ranges Chardonnay
Wine Rating
95
This wine characterises the mineral yet concentrated structure that is achieved from quality Macedon Ranges fruit and is a wine that will be a candidate for extended time in the cellar.
A Lightly golden yellow, the nose gives flinty brioche, a touch of sulphide funk and nectarine.
The palate has Structure in spades with a tight core of grippy and powdery acidity. Powerful stone fruits with a citrus and grapefruit edge cut through on the mid to back palate.
The wine finishes with flashes of wood spice and restrained butterscotch alongside nectarine fruit.
