The name behind this Chardonnay doesn’t come from a block, a strain of yeast or batch number, it’s a biblical reference, Genesis 1-10: “And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas: and God saw that it was good.” which in this case represents the views from the vineyard and resultant wine from Willow Bridge’s vineyard in Geographe.

A lightly golden yellow in colour, the winemaking techniques of wild ferment, time on lees and a generous proportion of new oak shines through on the nose which is flinty, complex and seductive; steeped in white peach, nectarine and wood smoke.

This is an engaging wine, a mealy expression of white stone fruits on entry that is contrasted by a mineral core of acidity, the mouthfeel is full; time on lees gives the depth and accentuates the stone fruit and oak induced aspects of the wine. The finish is a combination of subtle wood spice, peach skins and an ever so faint citrus flare.

This wine is hitting above it’s price tag and will reward time in the cellar.
