Chardonnay December 27, 2014
1995 Pipers Brook Estate Chardonnay
Wine Rating

92

Tasted from magnum, this wine is a glowing example of aged Tasmanian Chardonnay, it’s developed, yet maintains acidity and mouthfeel even as it nears it’s 20th birthday.

A golden yellow in colour the nose is rich with stone fruits and brioche and ever so faint gun flint aroma, continuing to grow in stature as it warms up in the glass.

The palate has flinty, mealy characters on entry that become fuller with buttery stone fruits on the mid to back palate. There is good texture with full lees characters and ever so slight grapefruit astringency. The wine is drinking at it’s peak as a mature Chardonnay, and best consumed over the next couple of years.
