Review Detail
2014 Elderton Eden Valley Chardonnay
Wine Rating
89
The vineyard from which grapes were sourced for this wine sits upon a rocky hilltop 420 meters above sea level, the resultant wine has been made in a fresh and aromatic style, whilst not losing varietal complexity.
The wine is a very light yellow in colour, with some green flecks in the glass, the nose is youthful and citrus dominant with some richer nectarine fruit.
The palate is lean and mineral with oyster shell, green apple and citrus, in the background vanillin oak inputs and some mealy characters give richness and a contrast in the mouth from both a texture and flavour perspective.
Drinking well now, it will continue to evolve over the short to medium term.
