Review Detail
1986 Heemskerk Chardonnay
Wine Rating
87
Tasmanian Chardonnay is built to last, even so it was pushing it when this was opened just short of it’s 30th Birthday ! It may have seen better days, however it was surprisingly complete and lively and further underwrites the ability for wines from the region to age.
A golden hue in the glass, the nose has milky baked peach, coconut and fig. The palate has surprisingly maintained much of it’s former svelte figure with a citrus kick against ripe peach and a touch of marzipan coming through. The finish has a touch of flint if you look really hard but is becoming a little broad and cloying when compared to the wines other components.
