Review Detail
2013 Lane’s End Chardonnay
Wine Rating
95
In my mind Lane’s End is still somewhat of little known treasure of the Macedon Ranges, primarily focusing on quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay; they may be known to many others but have been a revelation for me. The wines easily go toe to toe with those from the other great producers in the region.
The nose has an underlying savoury note of wood smoke to pristine stone fruits, the palate shows great dimensions, there is a plushness on entry that showcases white nectarine and moves seamlessly to a richer brioche inspired state before being led down a path that highlight's savoury and spicy elements from time in barrel and on lees.
A complete wine that will continue to evolve over the medium term.
