Chardonnay April 03, 2016
2012 Balgownie Bendigo Chardonnay
Wine Rating

90
Bendigo isn’t known as the Chardonnay mecca of Victoria, but Balgownie has established a reputation for crafting well made wines from the region.

A developed yellow in the glass, the nose is attractive with some funky savoury aspects to brighter melon and fig fruit. The palate has a leesy bacon underdone with nicely integrated oak spice and grilled nut characters to go along with full bodied stone fruits. The only detractor is the wine looses a little of it’s focus to finish, indicating it will be best enjoyed over the next couple of years.
