Chardonnay April 19, 2016
2012 Toolangi Paul’s Lane Chardonnay
Wine Rating

96
Toolangi are a consistent high performer, but the 2012 Paul’s Lane Chardonnay takes it to another plane, the wine was made at Oakridge under the watchful eye of David Bicknell, the end result is a wine that gives genuine excitement slating pristine fruit and flinty spice notes against each other.

A light straw yellow in the glass, on the nose flint and worked sulphide nuances give way to nectarine and green fig, the palate has a foundation of crystalline acidity from which richer stone fruits express themselves with profound impact. The wine finishes with subtle wood spice and a steely edge to nectarine fruit, the length is immense. This is a modern day Australian classic.
