2014 d’Arenberg Lucky Lizard Chardonnay
Wine Rating

90
The two Burgundian varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from d'Arenberg are sourced from vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, the Lucky Lizard a consistent performer that grows in stature with time in bottle.

A touch of funky winemaker induced complexity works well with fig and nectarine on the expressive nose, with the palate showing a 'less is more’ approach at this point. There is a taut and grippy backbone of citrus acidity and powdery grapefruit texture with nectarine and worked brioche notes. The wine has all the components now but will be best in 6 - 12 months when all the subtle complexities begin to make themselves known.
