Review Detail
2014 Fox Creek Chardonnay
Wine Rating
91
Don’t let the fact that this Chardonnay was sourced from McLaren Vale scare you off, it’s a well made and varietally correct expression of the grape that would sit well amongst examples produced from some the premier Chardonnay growing regions of Australia.
The nose shows some winemaker intervention with flint, and lees notes giving dimension to nectarine and white peach . There is a citrus acidity that helps gives proportion to the fuller stone fruits on the palate with plenty of mealy richness and wood spice to frame the finish. A big, but enjoyable wine.
