2012 Bicknell FC Chardonnay

Bicknell Family Company is the label of David Bicknell (Oakridge) and Nicky Harris. The grapes are sourced from the Willowlake vineyard and the wine shows all the finesse and class one has come to expect from one of the best Chardonnay winemakers in the valley.
The wine was pressed into french oak for a wild ferment and spent 11 months on lees, the nose is framed by nectarine fruit with flint, fig and wood smoke building and growing with time in the glass.
The palate is built on concentrated nectarine fruit, there is great minerality and a savoury side which gives complexity and texture to richer lees inputs and flinty oak. A touch of white grapefruit gives substance and length to the long and complex finish.
