2015 Rob Hall Wines Harriets Vineyard Chardonnay
Wine Rating

95
I get excited when i see a Chardonnay at 12.5% alcohol when it comes from a good producer, these wines have the potential to walk the line between crunchy citrus / green apple and fuller stone fruits but to stand out need the texture to go with it. It is this platform that provides the canvas for winemaker derived complexity that comes from choice of yeast, fermentation technique, choice of oak and time on lees. Rob Hall has got it the balance just right.

In terms of winemaking 90% of the wine was pressed to barrel and aged on gross lees with some stirring for the first few months before being bottled with little or no malo taking place.

A light yellow in the glass with flint, nectarine, lemon pith and a touch of wood smoke. Racy, crystalline citrus acidity is at the foundation of the wine with subtle white nectarine that slips seamlessly amongst a web of mealy richness to finish.

Time will be extremely kind to this wine.
