2016 Irrewarra Chardonnay
Wine Rating

94
Produced from a vineyard that was planted in 2001 by the Calvert family in the Western Districts of Victoria which is dry farmed and cool climate. The wine is produced by Nick Farr and has his characteristic wine making flare but the wine certainly speaks of the site. It saw 30% new oak and full malolactic fermentation.

A light yellow with a flick of green in the glass, oak shows itself on the nose with a decidedly flinty note to white peach, melon and white flowers.

There is a fullness to the wine with stone fruits working amongst a web of mealy richness with flashes of wood smoke. Lithe and powdery acidity with a citrus edge gives length and structure and underwrites plenty of future development in years to come.
