Review Detail
2016 Domaine Epis Chardonnay
Wine Rating
93
Epis always sits on the bigger, creamier and complex side of the Chardonnay spectrum. The unabashed richness is held in suspension by taut acidity that is afforded by the Macedon Ranges and the beautiful oak integration that is the hallmark of all the wines Alec produces.
The 2016 spent a little longer in barrel than previous vintages and has golden yellow hue. The nose gives white peach, clotted cream and vanillin richness. The palate has the aforementioned creaminess of stone fruits and some almond-meal texture for good measure. The wine is completed by integrated vanillin oak notes to finish.
