Review Detail
2017 Coombe Farm Tribute Series Chardonnay
Wine Rating
96
A benchmark example of new world Chardonnay, Coombe Farm is one of the oldest vineyards in the Yarra Valley with access to some exceptional fruit.
The nose is as expressive as it is expansive with wood smoke and flint from quality French oak and layers of stone fruits and fig.
White peach defines the palate with a powdery citrus acidity that is interjected by brûlée like richness. Winemaking technique is on full show to finish with time on lees and new oak giving mouth filling cashew before a triumphant return of piercingly pure white peach and nectarine to finish.
A long future awaits this wine.
