Review Detail
2017 Byrne Plumpton Chardonnay
Wine Rating
93
A light to golden yellow in colour with worked barrel inputs that give a richness to the nose that is lifted by white peach and nectarine.
Acidity is well handled here with a fine filament that holds the attention of stone fruits with a citrus like line that gives a leanness and flow to the mid plate. The finish sees a subtle return of understated almond-meal notes with a tension between fruit and acidity that is enjoyable now and underwrites plenty of future development. Shades of Meyer lemon and touch of grapefruit linger.
