Review Detail
2017 Curly Flat Lacuna Chardonnay
Wine Rating
94
The Lacuna plays homage to Burgundy which produces two distinct styles of Chardonnay. The richer, barrel fermented expressions from Meursault, Puligny and Chassagne compared to the fruit driven but age worthy wines of Chablis. The Lacuna is Chablis like, with the Curly Flat Estate release very much in the style of Chassagne.
A slight honeyed note on the nose gives richness to new season nectarine and meyer lemon with background oyster shell aromatics.
This is a beautifully fruit driven wine that is saturated with white peach and nectarine from start to finish. A subtle build of citrus acidity works well on the mid palate with an understated creaminess and flashes of flint.
Impressive length to finish this is a wine that will develop well over the next 5+ years.
