Review Detail
2017 Passing Clouds Fools On The Hill Chardonnay
(Updated: May 23, 2019)
Wine Rating
94
The grapes for this wine come from one of the most intimidating yet beautiful sites in the Macedon Ranges; welcoming when bathed in sunshine and foreboding on a cold, wet and windy winters day. Uncompromising viticulture has produced a wine of elegance and longevity.
A nose of citrus with stone fruits emerging amongst a swathe of vanillin spice impact from new French oak; the wine has fine lines that embraces its cool climate roots and a cold year with a layered palate that starts with a lemony citrus thread but fills out with new season peach. Oak gives spice and breadth with grapefruit like grip to finish.
Watch this wine evolve with time.
