2018 Bobar Royale Chardonnay
Wine Rating

96
This is a Chardonnay with presence and interest that is unlike most that you will find in Australia. It is all about texture and the layers of fruit and flavour that come from time on lees, a warm wild yeast ferment, the use of ceramic egg and no fining or filtration. The conviction of winemaking and confidence of site have produced a captivating wine.

This is a Chardonnay not adorned by oak with the nose showing Meyer lemon and citrus zest alongside slate and some creamier notes. There is a saline edge to the palate that combines with fine lines of integrated acidity, the lemon thread is joined by just ripe fig and textural white grapefruit before the long finish that is accentuated with faint almond tones.
