Sidewood consistently craft some of the best value Chardonnay in Adelaide Hills. This wine shows precise cool climate fruit and as always exceptional winemaking. The nose has worked fig and almond-meal with flint like spice to stone fruits. There is an understated lemon pith and green apple thread to the palate that is contrasted by vanillin spice and fresh nougat. I really like the tension to the wine, which is more chablis like if you were going to pin it to an old world style. The length is long to finish and has austere stone fruits and citrus set against winemaker induced richness.
