Review Detail
2017 Eldridge Estate Gamay
Wine Rating
93
David Lloyd is a pioneer of Gamay in Australia having planted the variety in 1995/96. There is typically less that 2500 bottles produced so it is an eagerly awaited release each year.
A pretty light red to purple in the glass with a characteristic nose of violets, red cherry and earth; the palate is built around a crunchy and lightly herbaceous core of acidity that helps to accentuate the wines more savoury nuances before a return of violets and dark cherry. A wisp of spice and charcuterie like note give great interest to finish.
