Grenache February 26, 2017
2014 S.C. Pannell Grenache
Wine Rating

95
This wine was produced from some old vine material, 72 years to be exact and coming from the Old McDonald vineyard in McLaren Vale. The wine was fermented in small batches and spent 14 months in French oak puncheons before bottling.

A lovely medium red hue in the glass the nose is vibrant with juicy raspberry and cherry notes combining floral overtones. The palate has well handled acidity and a chalky tannin structure which is a great frame to support the dark cherry and floral spice that define the wine. The finish is long, elegant and enjoys the interplay between primary fruit, gentle oak spice and fine but impactful tannins.
