The Kevin John and Diana Madeline releases from Cullen have to come close to being the best red and white combination from a winery in Australia. Cullen epitimise minimal intervention winemaking - they are biodynamic and carbon nuetral, use wild yeast and wild malo with no acid additions to their wines.
A deep but glossy red in the glass, the concentration of this wine is incredible it's bursting with blackberry and blackcurrant with background leafy aspects and a suggestion of oak.
The age old analogy of an iron fist in a velvet glove is a great metaphor for this wine, there is elegance and definition to the glossy and expressive black fruits on the palate that is seemlessly integrated with richer milk chocolate notes and a web of supple tannins.
There is a true peacocks tail to finish with length capable of outlasting a conversation.
