Yarra Valley Cabernet has gone out of favour for some or known reason, but i for one think there will be a resurgence with examples like this from Medhurst leading the charge.
The wine is a medium red hue in colour, the nose displays both classical cool climate cabernet characters of blackberry and capsicum with the slightest sulphide funk alongside generous vanillin oak.
The palate is well proportioned with bright black fruits on entry, the tannins are taut and puckering with blackberry; chocolate oak gives the perfect contrast to the more leafy cabernet notes with considerable length of dark fruits to finish alongside briny olive complexity.
