2013 Gartelmann Jonathan Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine was produced from grapes sourced from Ralston near the south eastern boundary of Mudgee. The vineyard sits at 630 meters and was afforded a long, slow ripening period with grapes harvested in May.

A light to medium red in the glass the nose has classic cassis and understated earth notes. The wine has plenty of depth and mouthfeel with good varietal expression but also showing richer plum and sweeter oak characters (American and French were used). There is a chocolate note that works with the drying tannins that have an impact on the finish.
