2014 Penley Estate Black Bull Cabernet Sauvignon

Barrel aged in French oak for 21 months (60% new oak, 40% old oak) followed by 6 months in stainless steel, the wine comes in a nicely presented package with a heavy, slightly tapered bottle and striking gold oval on a black background. The nose is quintessential Coonawarra with blackberry bud, earth and cedar notes from quality French oak.

The palate has graphite, tobacco, drying blackberry and dark chocolate. Oak gives a richness and depth to the palate with juicy acidity and drying tannins a great combination to the driving dark fruits that frame the finish.

Drinking beautifully now, but certainly an age worthy release from the great 2014 vintage.
