The grapes were sourced from the original winery block that was planted back in 1978, with whole berries fermented and then left on skins for four weeks post fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak for 15 months prior to bottling and a couple of years in bottle prior to release.

A vibrant but deep red in the glass, the nose has a floral edge to blackberry and plum with faint olive, dark chocolate and cedar spice playing a supporting role.

The palate shows a texturally appealing wine that has power when it needs to, and softer supple influences to contrast an engaging interplay between fruit, oak and winemaker derived complexity. Fruit focuses on blackberry and black cherry, tannins are laced with bitter dark chocolate and acidity underwrites a long future ahead. The finish is drying and has significant length of black fruits and cocoa.
