The 2008 Majestic Plough is 100% Malbec, a variety that is not often bottled by itself in Australia, this wine has class and interest, with the interplay between fruit and oak throughout something to be enjoyed.
The nose has spiced plum and milk chocolate aromas with a waft of high quality vanillin oak that serves as an interlude to the palate.
The palate has a silky softness throughout that is no doubt due to the wonderfully rich oak that is more than matched by ripe plum fruits, don't get me wrong there are plenty of tannins, but they are ripe and well integrated.
There is an array of spices that contrast the oak with secondary leathery characters and dark fruits on the finish.
This wine will flourish in the cellar.
