Tasting
The wine is sourced from both McLaren Vale and Adelaide hills and include the principle grape varieties of Bordeaux namely Cabernet Sauvignon (68%), Merlot (19%), Petit Verdot, (9%) Cabernet Franc (4%). The name Galvo Garage pays homage to Bordeaux producers outside of the Appellation Controlee system who make wines in their Garage', with Galvo the name given to the winemaking facilities at d'Arenberg.
The 2010 is a very good release, it's packed full of varietal characters with an underlying drinkability and richness. The nose shows Cabernet dominance with well defined blackberry fruit lifted by tomato leaf and subtle pencil shaving aromas.
The palate has great depth of fruit, with ripe but well structured plum and olive that's supported by drying tannins. The finish sees a return of blackberry fruit interjected by oak induced spice.
