Tasting
Cobaw Ridge are a pioneer of the variety in Australia, let alone the Macedon Ranges. It takes courage to grow the variety in the cool climes of the region, however the resultant wine and it's ability to age have warranted a cult following.
The nose is full of briary dark plum and raspberry fruit that's accentuated by a suggestion of black licorice. The palate is plush and approachable with initial raspberry and blackberry fruit dominating before a drying, juicy backbone of fine tannin and a taut savory texture give length, complexity and definition.
This will age effortlessly and gain secondary complexity.
