Nero d'Avola is the most prevalent red grape variety in Sicily, Italy. The name itself is taken from the Avola region which is on the south eastern part of the Island.
Nero d'Avola is known as being a food friendly wine that is more structure than opulence, with the 16' release from Geoff Hardy certainly on point in producing a wine that has attractive proportions, but has an undeniably moreish tannin and acid structure.
A vibrant dark red in the glass, earthen dark cherry is dominant on the nose and continues through to the medium bodied palate that shows taut cherry and plum fruit. Tannins are chalky, drying and laced with savoury edged spice that give the wine impressive length.
