Sometimes reading the back label doesn't tell you much, however the short concise and informative labels from Catlin wines give you a window into the approach and technique that goes into every wine, and it is very rarely straight up and down winemaking.
This rose was produced from Montepulciano grapes, it was barrel fermented using wild yeast and aged in old oak for 5 months prior to bottling. The wine is a burnt orange with pink hues and has a complex nose of boysenberry, rhubarb and some earthen, almost savoury tones. There is a crunchy oregano notes but a fullness of fruit that has sour cherry, some citrus peel and even spice. The finish is savoury and moreish with tannin grip.
At $20, this is incredible value.
