Medium red in colour, the nose shows stewed cherry and a high proportion of spicy vanilin new oak inputs.
The palate begins with smokey cherry fruit, the tannins are very firm and spicy, managing to persist through to the finish with plum fruit weaving in and out. The tannins also create a drying sensation on the finish that works well with the savoury fruits that are contrasted by richer oak characters.
Overall not a complex Pinot, with the structure and mouth feel more in the style of a medium bodied cool climate Shiraz. Confusing
