Nicholson river produce some of the most distinctive and cellar worthy Pinot Noirs in Australia, with the 2009 no different.
Produced from the drought effected 2009 vintage the nose is austere with stem, cherry skins and coffee oak characters.
The acid and tannin structure is commanding and shapes the wine from start to finish with subtle stewed cherry with a sour edge, undergrowth and savoury oak all in the mix.
The wine finishes with riper cherry, spice, drying tannins and lively acid, as a wine it is a perfect match with food and will reward medium to long term cellaring, a very unique almost Burgundian paradigm for Australian Pinot.
