This wine was made in small quantities with only 130 dozen produced, the wine represented the best barrels from what was a superb Yarra Valley vintage. The wine saw the inclusion of 20% whole bunches and 50% new oak, which added savoury undertones and generous wood induced spice.
A light to medium red hue in the glass, with the nose showing floral cherry fruit that combines with baking spice and background notes of forrest floor.
There is supreme balance on the plate with fruit at the fore, earthen notes and wonderfully fine tannins build across the palate; epitomising the 'peackocks tail' found in the best examples of the variety. The finish showcases integrated french oak spice and pristine varietal cherry fruit.
This wine will continue to evolve over the medium term, but drinking wonderfully now.
