Tasting
This wine was tasted from magnum, and undoubtedly needs time. It was tasted over an hour and continued to evolve and open up during that time.
The nose shows attractive stem and layered baking spice from considered winemaking that included whole bunch and a long maceration time on skins. In terms of fruit dark cherry and richer raspberry strap are well supported by gentle vanillin oak.
The wine has very good structure with firm Burgundian tannin and acid meeting the full fruited elegance that is becoming a hallmark of Central Otago. Black cherry, stewed raspberry and generous spice are impressive, and oak is firm. The wine has great length to finish and needs significant time.
