I was impressed by the value of this wine, sure it's not cheap, but by Burgundy pricing standards it represents excellent value. The wine itself has the clarity and structure of a new world wine but the savoury, smokey structure and beguiling complexity that is the hallmark of Burgundy.

A youthful red garnet in the glass, the nose shows sappy cherry and rhubarb, with pristine new oak inputs giving a smokiness and baking spice complexity. The wine is set against a mineral core of acidity that will underwrite a decade or more in the cellar, on the palate vibrant dark cherry gets a spicy lift, the finish is savoury and gives considerable length.
