Tasting
Baillieu Vineyards was started in 1999 and over the last 15 years has been established as a consistently good producer in a region that has no shortage of good wineries. In particular i have been impressed by their burgundian varieties of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with the 2012 Pinot in the case reinforcing the point. The wines are expertly crafted by Kathleen Quealy,
In the glass the wine is a burnt orange to red, the nose is attractive and feminine with sweet cherry, gentle spice and structural stem. The palate has balance and builds in stature across the journey; textured spice and earth meld with red berry fruits that are completed by integrated french oak. Excellent length to finish.
