2012 Handpicked Collection Central Otago Pinot Noir

A dark, deep and brooding Pinot Noir that was sourced from the Hawksbury Estate in Central Otago. The nose is a heady mix of concentrated dark cherry, wet earth and attractive sappy oak spice.

The wine is very much on the bigger end of the Pinot Noir spectrum with the palate loosing some of the finess and complexity seen on the nose with broad brush dark cherry and plum fruits, the wine still benefits from generous oak spice and a background earthiness which make this a very good wine, but one that based on the aromatics on the nose was pushing more towards exceptional.
