Adelaide Hills continues to vie for a position as one of Australia's premier Pinot Noir producing regions, with the Shaw & Smith Pinot true to the typical varietal and regional definition that one comes to suspect from Adelaide Hills, with spicy red fruits and tight earthy tannins.
The wine itself is a medium red, with lighter hues towards the rim, the nose gives stemmy dark cherry and plum with cedary oak and baking spices in the background. The wine is medium to full bodied and at this time in it's development follows a similar flavour profile to the nose, with spicy peppery nuances giving depth to savoury dark cherry and plum.
The wine has full, soft and mouth filling tannins that frame the meaty red fruited finish and give the framework for considerable development with time in the bottle.
